Edward Kraemer & Sons, Inc. (Kraemer) has been involved in the construction and rehabilitation of moveable bridges since the early 1960’s. Kraemer’s first projects were for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation in Milwaukee, WI. Over five decades, Kraemer has used their expertise to construct and rehabilitate rolling bascules, vertical lift bridges, and swing spans throughout the upper Midwest. Kraemer’s client list includes numerous municipalities, highway departments, and railroads.

The talents and skills of Kraemer’s veteran millwrights, ironworkers, and movable bridge crews have also been used to perform machinery installations in dams, hydroelectric facilities, pump stations, foundries, and factories. Installation and start-up of new bascule machinery has provided Kraemer’s front line supervisors and managers with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and structural problems on existing equipment. These capabilities enable Kraemer to develop leading edge solutions for complex machinery installations and rehabilitation projects.

In addition to our experience, Kraemer maintains a vast inventory of hydraulic jacks and pumps, hydraulic and mechanical winches, and Hilman rollers. This inventory enables Kraemer to respond quickly to emergency repair projects and unexpected site conditions. Kraemer has also designed and built many customized jacking and rolling systems to efficiently and safely move and position all sizes and configurations of equipment, machinery, and structures. Our in-house engineering staff can design modifications to these systems as necessary to meet the requirements of unique projects. The vast selection of equipment and our experienced personnel provide the resources necessary to complete any unique equipment installation project safely and efficiently. Kraemer’s capabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Structure or Machinery Jacking and Rolling
  • Machinery Installation and Alignment
  • Trunnion Bearing Replacement & Rehabilitation
